Bonne Friesen ~ Dances With Words

Dragging Sophie Around

October25

My MacBook laptop computer’s name is Sophie.  I’ve been out a lot today, but I took her along so I could work on writing when I wasn’t otherwise engaged.  I wrote in some interesting places and made tiny baby steps of progress.  Nothing beats a chunk of time all at once after kids are in bed though.

I’ve made it to Step Five (of 9) with my outlining process (you don’t really need me to link that again, do you?).    It’s so simple, but still so much work.  I’m pleased with the results, but I wish I had just a little more time to work on it before I need to start writing the actual novel.

How’s my writing class assignment going?  Don’t ask.  Maybe it will get some attention if I get writers block on my novel.

With a smile and a song

I was feeling pretty under the weather today, but my youngest son convinced me to go to community choir anyway tonight.  It’s the one thing that we do together, just the two of us, and he has a good ear for harmony especially considering that he’s only eight.

It’s amazing how it just makes me feel better.  Maybe it’s the deep breathing?  The beauty of the music?  But one creative act begs another, so then my dear husband played guitar and piano for me (not both at once) so I could dance in the living room.  I don’t dance regularly with a group at the moment, and it is becoming an important ritual.  The day isn’t right if I haven’t danced.

This creative chain began when I rose above feeling wretched to go and sing, and now will continue from dancing to writing as I turn again to preparing my Snowflake outline for the upcoming novel-writing month.  The way it’s shaping up,  I know it won’t be a polished novel the first draft, but it could end up being a very cool story!
