It flowed
Wow, what a relief to be through some writer’s block. Not that I’ve let it stop me ~ I’ve followed my snowflake, gone with the spreadsheets and been hammering out my 1667+ words a day, but today it FLOWED. Maybe I should have started with this scene, even if it doesn’t go in the beginning. I’ve been wanting to write it and now I could, and a lot of it went really well. The sort of distressing thing is that with my main characters so very young, I’m way more interested/relating to the adults in their lives. This scene was between girls and their fathers, and it was so much easier to do. Of course, insufficient characterisation in the first place with my MCs probably contributes too. I think I’m really going to enjoy the second draft of this thing, and it probably won’t even suck!
You can see an excerpt of my less-horrible writing on ‘my nanowrimo page’, link located in the blogroll. You’ll also see how many words I’ve written, which really is an interesting lesson in compound interest. Things really do add up when you keep adding consistently. This link actually works now, so give it a shot.
