Lesson 3 in How To Think Sideways is where we learn to train ( I prefer ‘cooperate’) with our muse to come up with good, original ideas on a deadline. It’s a little intimidating, but most things are when they’re new. The assignment this week was to go through the steps of ‘calling down thunder’ to come up with 3 distinct story ideas, any genre, any length. (No I won’t tell the steps here, but the course is very reasonable if you really want to know!)
Amazingly, I have two so far, and I have until Tuesday to get the third one. I’m going to need more practice generating ideas, but it’s so empowering to no longer be at the mercy of random inspiration. Did I mention how cool this course is?
